So WGYM now runs Fox Sports Off/On weekdays and is full ESPN on the weekends. Is this just a ploy to insure nobody else tries to come in and try sports in O-Town?
WYGM has been doing that for a while now. I'd be willing to bet ESPN made them an offer they couldn't refuse to carry at least some of their programing in order to have a presence in this market. Remember when Orlando had as many as 4 sports stations at one time? That was a waste. 740 WYGM is the only "game" (pun intended) in town.
Also FWIW in Tampa the only sports station there 620 WDAE owned by the same company does the same thing although they run more local programing then WYGM. And that's more than likely because Tampa is a much larger sports market then Orlando.
