96 Rock late 70s-early 80s question

Yes, Mr. Hannity left GST for WABC somewhere in the mid-90's. Before Hannity left to go to NYC, the ratings between WSB (with Boortz) and WGST (Hannity) were some of the most competitive that this area had seen ever. Between Neal and Sean during the 9AM-Noon time, they both had a combined 25 share with men 25-54 (Boortz with a 13 share and Mr. Hannity with a 12 share). Even then, they were great friends and word was they would actually call each other off the air sometimes during news and commercial breaks.

I believe I have heard both Sean and Neal confirm that on air.

You're almost right. Hannity left WGST for the Fox News Channel. Roger Ailes had seen Sean as a guest several times on TV and thought he'd be good doing a show.

He got the WABC job after he had been at FNC for a little while.

I was away not ignoring the board. Roddy is correct about Hannity. When he came here from Huntsville we all wondered about that New York accent, and when he left for FNC it was more puzzling because Time Warner cable, as a favor to sister company CNN, was not carrying FNC in Atlanta. We had no idea what he going to.

WABC radio came later.

For all the reply to the comment about "no one has gone from the south to WABC" I was referring to the legendary music days of 77 WABC programmed by Rick Sklar who is the man who hired them. The talk format came later.

In reply to the person who said "you worked for me..."

I'm not saying they were a bad morning team - they were the best & funniest morning jocks that I remember from Atlanta radio in those years...and I have nothing at all bad to say about them, period. They were awesome talents!!!! I'm sure they're working and STILL are awesome talents.

I did not mean that in any way....and, when I left every morning after my shift, they were always nice, funny, cutting up, laughing & all. I was just about 19 then and this was my first major market job, and they never snubbed me or anything...as I was just a kid. basically.

I did work there when Dan Mason was PD, overnights & PT. I'm not anonymous...name on the air was Shana.

I remember hearing about it from people who worked there....I wasn't "there when it happened" if you misunderstood or if I didn't explain well enough, I'm sorry, just meant that I worked there...after an overnight shift I'm sure I was asleep.

No harm meant, and, jocks say worse everyday, as someone said in this post earlier.
