960 AM from Alberta Province

Would anyone consider this to be a good catch? I was driving to college today and I heard 960AM CFAC from Calgary causing interference with our local 960 AM, KKGN. It's strange because the local is less than 30 miles from the location where I'm hearing CFAC. I looked on radio-locator and this area is well within local coverage. My location where I heard 960 AM CFAC is at Pleasant Hill, CA, USA.

I was able to tell it was CFAC, as I heard them with Calgary Flames hockey on Monday night and tonight I heard them mention some tire company in Southern Alberta. BTW, Pleasant Hill is about 30 miles from San Francisco, CA.

CFAC has been known to get out. That being said, I'd definitely consider it a go0d catch. 960 isn't exactly a clear frequency anywhere. Congrats!

The station has been one of Calgary's favourites over the years. In the 60's it was a top 40 powerhouse. From the 70's into the late 90's it was Calgarys #1 Country station, with competition from 3 other local country stations from 1982 onwards.

I've heard this station here in Nashville with an utterly HUGE signal. By far the strongest thing I've ever heard from anywhere west of Omaha. (and for that matter anything north of Minneapolis) The ground conductivity on the Prairies is out of this world but I think their night pattern (actually more likely their day pattern ;) ) probably has something to do with it.

1140 from Calgary also shows up fairly often around here, but generally not nearly as loud.
