I was on the website two days ago just checking to see if there was a hint about coming back on the airwaves.. but today it is gone. I guess its finally really over. Many of us here in charleston were holding out hope for a comeback and truly thought it would happen since they were still streaming online. I hope they bring a new rock format out because 98X in charleston f***ing sucks. Slutty fat chick dj's and strip club promotions wont ever get my vote. 96 wave died 100.5 will be gone monday and charleston radio for the moment blows ass.

So WALC changes hands Monday?

They could have taken the 96wave.com thing down so people won't think it's coming to 95.9, I don't know...but I don't see Apex doing it again. Had they seen something in it, they would have kept The Wave or could have put it on 101.7.

OK, I checked as of Saturday, 8pm, and the 96Wave.com page is working just fine. The stream is picking up Chuck FM, though.

Weird...

Hmm that's weird the site was offline for an extended period of time.. Glad its back though. Hopefully they will come back on air at 95.9 I have a feeling that all this hush hush is for good reason!

That would be nice, but knowing it's too good to be true, probaly not. The Drive had really been sounding good IMO with their mix of alternative. Too bad that had to go too. (Sorry but moving it to 104.5 HD2 does not cut it.) I knew it was bound to happen. I used to envy Charleston radio here in Columbia. Now it's all one in the same.

I still ask the question as to why Apex would bring 96Wave back to 95.9? It obviously wasn't working for them at 96.1 so they dropped it. They could have brought Alt. back on 101.7 but they chose Chuck instead. I can see how it could be a possibility given the dial position, but it wouldn't make much sense. Even if rock did come to 95.9 it would likely be under a different name.

When you start talking about things making sense there hasn't been a lot of that lately. What sometimes makes sense to one person or company seems to make no sense at all to anyone or everyone else. 94.3 in Cloumbia flips formats when they have a 1.9 ratting in the market, not great but better than a lot of others. Years ago Charlie Boswell grabes the WIGL call letters after 106.7 dumps them for his then new 102.9 station in Orangeburg (wiggle), And in another case Clarence Jones watches the data base till he sees an regrabes the WORG call letters for his 100.3 station to return them back to the Orangeburg area back then. Why would they do this because it was something people remembered and could relate to, I think the wave is that same kind of thing something people will remember and go back to if ever given the chance to do so. Has for things making sense lately all I can say to that is your kidding right?

Yeah it also doesnt really make sense that they copyrighted all the waves stuff.. i dunno it just seems like they are keeping it alive for some reason. Check apexbroadcasting.com the logo is up on the homepage and you can see its copyrighted at the bottom of 96wave.com

Is there a station in O-burg that calls themself 'Wiggle'? I'm not familiar with O-Burg's radio. Now I might be way off on this. There are several billboards scattered around N. Charleston that says 'wiggle on the front porch', 'wiggle in the bedroom', 'wiggle in the bathroom' etc. There are all a solid color with 2 stick drawings in a dance motion on them. Could this be a clue as to what will be on 95.9???

When Harold Miller bought Boswell Communications out he moved the call letters WIGL over to 93.9 which is off air right now and is moving from Sandy Run to just above Columbia. Wheather he keeps the call letters or switches with 95.9's new call we will see.

Wiggle 95.9? Rhythmic AC? Just an idea

The WAVF copyright is probably standard for that website since MediaSpan did it. So when MS does a site that copyright is already put there....odd that it says WAVF-FM, I guess it was overlooked.

FWIW, are these the "wiggle" figures you were seeing?

Apparently it is some housing incentive thing, hence the wiggle locations. See the 2 sponsors at the bottom...I doubt there is any connection.

Oh well, back to the drawing board.
