96X JAY GREGORY

This is from the Illinois board:

For those of you who worked with him in the 70's, you know he was a great guy---he'll be missed.

Greg Jokerst
STERLING - Greg L. Jokerst, 54, of Sterling, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008. Best known as Jay Gregory to his listening audience, Greg had been a radio disc jockey for WJVM, Sterling, WYFE and WROK, Rockford, and KSTT, Davenport, Iowa. He later was employed by Wahl Clipper Corp., Sterling, in marketing.

What isn't mentioned is Jay Gregory worked briefly at 96X in Miami. Perhaps Stuart Elliott has a memory of Jay's short time there to share. I worked with Jay at KSTT in Davenport prior to becoming "Harley" in South Florida.

I'm shocked! What I remember of Greg was he was a quiet person, and had a low voice for such a slender man. Greg was very keyed into his work when on the air. I was only 18 when Greg came to 96X and his tenure wasn't a long one, so I really can't go into details about him, other than the fact that he was always pleasant to me and easy to talk to. To his family and radio friends, you all are in my thoughts.
