Just a second at a time, but definitely. What could cause that?

i've been noticing that too..but thought it might be because i was 80 miles away when i was listening. Watt can give us the answer...my guess is a short in the disgronificator.. ;)

S.W.A.G. now! If the condition is common on all signals, it stands a high probability of being some kind of issue with computer system that plays out all of the program material; ID's, spots, music and elements. More than likely specific to what ever mass drive storage system they use. I don't know what they use over there now but when it was installed, it was a RAID-1. After that, it might be issue with their networked system of Wheatstone console surfaces and routing switcher. Those would all be common elements and most likely to cause what you are describing. Ole Troy over there is a one-man show for all those stations IT and broadcast. Wouldn't want to be in his shoes! End of speculation...

It's been doing it for days. I like listening, but it was annoying me too much so had to change it. It's irritating. I don't recall EVER hearing issues on WRVW, but Cumulus' stations seem to have things frequently. I won't rant about i106 HD again.

There was even a post from someone on 97.1 FB page days ago:

J***** H$$$

Motor-boating? What a fine old-fashioned term.
I remember an NRI radio instructional course book with "Motor-Boating, oscillations, squeals and Hum" as a title.

Buddy is referring to another sort of "motor boating" altogether...

97.1 is really sounding bad this morning! The audio sounds muffled, as if maybe they are using a backup transmitter or something. And I just heard "Got to Get You Into My Life" a few minutes ago, and I realized that it was single channel! The horns were missing from it. It sort of sounded like the Anthology version. I actually thought it was the Anthology version for a moment there. If this "backup transmitter" thing means that they are making repairs, then that would be great! :)

The announcer on Saturday afternoon actually apologized on air for the audio cutting in and out that was mentioned here earlier.

Big A, I am going to take a line from another post on the Nashville board. Again, since you put words in my mouth, like you do with everybody...but to make you feel better ;D --- here's the proof that I could use the word "lethargy and/or lethargic". A company can "spend" multi-billions to buy more stations, but cannot spend $2,000 to fix their system for nearly a week in market #44, running off the small listener base they had finally started to grow by not micro-managing RQQ into the ground for the tenth straight time. What would you call it?

Radio 2011? Brilliance?

What a joke. Single owner stations, with even tighter budgets in the 70's and 80's had better sound quality than one-third of the stations today, and technology is far more advanced.

The reward will probably be firing Mac because the ratings fall to the pit of hell. This issue with RQQ's sound being muted isn't new. It's at least two or three times a month. Unacceptable. People actually want to listen for the first time in years.

Anyone noticing the jingles that 97.1 is now using? In particular, the one at the top of the hour that says "97.1, RQQ, Nashville!" It seems like they are trying to pass that one off to the average listener as a legal ID, when in fact, the real legal ID ("WRQQ, Belle Meade") is buried during the last commercial break of the hour.

I think it's actually a nice touch having the jingles. Y-107 and, IIRC, 96 Kiss used to do the same thing at the T0H, although I do seem to remember Y-107 often, but not always, had the station ID embedded in with the jingle. It was pretty common to try to almost hide the actual city of license -- especially years ago. RQQ needs to always put a great, high energy song in after that jingle. Nothing sounds worse than following with a slow, boring song.

They're sounding good, music wise. They aren't in HD again after whatever has been going on. I've noticed hearing 97.1 in many places I go now. I couldn't help but chuckle at these two posts people made on their old facebook page (apparently people don't realize they have a new FB page).

"LOVE this channel--as do my daughter AND mother! Just wish you would drop Bob and Tom--I would much rather hear music while commuting, and at work. In the office, we have to listen to Jack until Bob and Tom goes off...:("

"Just found your station today...Its great, I have been looking for station that played oldies. I am glad you are there."

Execs can do all the "research" they want, but it's easier for people to voice their opinion these days on social media. Classic hits/oldies isn't dead and if advertisers think only people over 54 are hearing it, they're wrong! I was at a gathering the other day where the oldest person in the room was 24 and the conversation transcended into singing "Oldies 96.3" jingles and talking about missing that station and format. While most of you guys had KDF, WMAK, and Y107, my generation had Oldies 96.3. That's the one that we all mark as the legend, not the River or Party as demo's would suggest.

I might be able to shed some light on this....97.1 and 99.7 both go to the hill in Goodlettsville on a single four channel STL. 99-7 is then relayed from on top of the hill to the site near Murphysboro. Rockville if my memory is correct. The 97.1 HD signal is sent as data on that same STL. We had ugly issues with that link over 3 years ago when I was CE there. It makes sense that they sounded muffled and there was no HD if they were using the ISDN or a (gulp) a POTS codec. The HD exporter was at 10 Music Circle East....I miss the city and my good friends, but not the place on MCE.

Be Well all...from Cleveland

Maybe they could get these guys to replace Bob and Tim. They even have the frequency right.

I do fine myself listening to 97.1 more and more on my drive home. I listen to WVCP 88.5 in the morning, though. That station will play some songs I haven't heard since the 60's,which will bring back great memories. Wish they could up their power more or move the transmitter closer to Nashville.
