97.1 Jamz Off the Air

The transmitter for WFOX/97.1 Jamz has apparently croaked. I was tuning my radio around this morning, and when I came upon 97.1, it was nothing but static.

I was fiddling around with my clock radio Friday evening, and 97.1 was static filled. I think they were off the air all weekend.

I assume it is technical issues with the transmitter. No word on their website (or elsewhere) that they were off the air.

I wonder if the transmitter finally realized no one was listening, and it decided that it was better to consume resources and go off of the air.

They were coming in pretty good here in Lawrenceville every time I was flipping through the dial.
______________

What a shame---(cough)- This station is a complete joke anyway. It is amazing this signal, the most powerful in GA, has this crap on it.
WFOX, circa 1975 to 1990 was an amazing station. When will it EVER CHANGE?????
Edited by BIGSTICK on 11/21/05 02:40 PM.

I really don't like Jamz either but by the time Fox 97 got the boot the stations was very boring playing the same 400 songs over and over. I was glad when Fox 97 left because I was hoping someone would take the format and do it better. However Clear Channel pretty much did the same thing.

Re: 97.1 Jamz at Reduced Power

They are at reduced power. It must be the weather? I thought I heard thunder earlier yesterday? Since the Beat is on the air at full power, we know no one is doing any scheduled work up there. At least I wouldn't want to be up there with a C1 at full power in bad weather. You can feel the power when you are at these sites. It's not safe to be there for any length of time.
______________

If you look closely around the Atlanta area, I saw a large object, made of metal, with doors that open, with large electrical pieces, glowing, that was jumping up and down, making it move, saying, geez, turn off this S***.
______________
