97.1 KLSX Question (1990's)

Kind of random, but someone asked me a question that I thought I knew, but I didn't. Does anyone remember how long Vox "the Rock n Roll Psychic" lasted on KLSX back in the 90s? And who ended up doing the night show from 7-10pm after Mother Love left in '96?

Only vague recollections here...but wasn't Scott Ferrell briefly on KLSX around that time? There was also a comedian, Carlos Oscar (or was it Oscar Carlos?) who might have been on in that slot...or perhaps later in the evening.

I remember Stern cracking on Vox and calling newly formed Real Radio KLSX "Radio Hindenburg". Vox didn't last long. 6 months tops if that much.

Up until Tom Leykis came to KLSX the 3-7p slot was a tragic round robin of shows starting with The Regular Guys (fired for something), Riki Rachtman (fired for assaulting Steckler), Mother Love (fired because she sucked), Scott Farrell (fired or left) and Joe Crummey (poor guy always gets fired). There are probably some others I'm forgetting (Frazier Smith?) in there but they didn't last long enough to form a blip on my recollection radar.

Conway And Steckler always held court in the 7-10p slot since the beginning. That's why their final show was more of an event. Timmy was the only on air talent that was there from beginning to end.

Didn't Timmy used to do middays before he did the night slot?

If Timmy did a midday slot, it didn't last long or was only to temporarily fill the slot until a replacement was found. I was in college and bus riding back in the early KLSX talk days so I always had my Walkman on me. I very much remember Ken Olber and Susan Olsen on after Stern and the Regular Guys on my way home from work.

And Jonathan Brandmeier. . . Kato Kalen was in there somewhere (middays?) for a quick run, too, wasn't he?

Ahhh yes. Thank God I made it to work so I didn't have to listen to the abortion that was Kato. Kato was on for quite a while. Couple of years, until Frosty and Frank got canned from Star 98.

I wish I had taped extensively those first few weeks of KLSX as talk. Worst radio in history .... some of the funniest calls ever as the callers were so much smarter than the hosts, the hosts didn't know they were being played. Kato and Mother Love especially.
