They stopped saying "The Tower" and have gone jockless. And "tomorrow morning after Bob and Tom..." So what next, "classic rock that really rocks"? Alternative?
 
Maybe they've finally decided to listen to what the folks here at radio-info have to say, and take our suggestions under consideration! ;D

Anyone notice that they are only broadcasting single-channel out of both speakers tonight? I thought I was hearing unusual mixes of songs, but I'm only hearing one channel. I don't know if it is left or right.

The tower has fallen! I'm just glad I wasn't standing close enough to get hit by it when it fell! ;D

Who cares, if their plans still involve Bob & Tom. Management needs to understand THAT'S what's bringing the station down. It set the ID for the whole station, and that led people not to care.

Me too...I have enough to deal with without any stupid "Tower" falling on me. I really wish they'd send Bob and Tom out to pasture. Just play music in the morning! I don't want to sit and listen to 2 old has-beens (or never-weres) making potty jokes for four hours.

Alternative? did this happen today ? i had them on surfing through stations..but didn't really pay attention..after hearing "the new tower" adnaseum for months..just numb to them..did hear kristi lee plugging the B$T after party..all the jocks gone? thought i read where the british gal was on middays..haven't heard her..in all honesty..don't listen to nash radio much at all..have wls/wabc/wcfl..etc on cd to enjoy

Such a shame! And it was still a "new" tower, too! ;D At least that's what they were still saying earlier this week!

They're actually playing a couple of songs in a row without talking (or "Bob&Tomming") between them! :eek:

Maybe they should do this more often! 8)
 
Earlier today I heard WRQQ doing a radiothon promo, complete with voiceovers with Bob & Tom.

Then, tonight while reading this board, I heard this promo:

"Tomorrow after Bob & Tom, we're going to shoot this horsey up with steroids."

One would think that if a format flip/tweak was in the works, Cumulus would hold off until after a charity event like the radiothon which likely was put into place. We'll all find out what's in store soon enough...
 
While we're waiting for "the big change" to occur, ponder this: remember back when they were Star 97? Their logo was everywhere! Billboards, t-shirts, coffee mugs, key chains (remember the "at-work club"?), ballpoint pens, and those foam rubber things you put around your drink cans to keep your drinks cool. Then, while they were Oldies 97.1, they continued a lot of that type of thing, but mainly put their logo on license plates, a la Oldies 96.3. But what visibility have they had as the "Tower"? They sponsored the Zoo Run Run, a 5K race at the Nashville zoo, last year, and they had this giant inflatable juke box out there with "Classic Hits 97.1 WRQQ" on it. (Remember, this was while they were pounding their call letters into our heads! ::)) I think they were out there sponsoring the the zoo run again this year, but I don't seem to recall any of their presence there. You would think with this new "tower" campaign, they would have "tower" all over everything they could print that logo on! But that was just not the case, was it? ::) This tower was kinda like the tower of Babel. It fell before it was ever completely built! Other than Bob & Tom billboards, I just have not seen any real promotion for this station over the last couple of years. And since "Crumb-ulus" has owned the station all along, I don't understand why they haven't promoted this latest incarnation of their station the way they did back in the Star 97 days.
 
Sources say former WIOT Toledo PD Aaron Roberts is inbound.
 
Let's make a bet: over/under on Roberts and his stay here. Does he stay longer that Big Al Brock and Randy Railey, or does Roberts' six-month apartment lease outlast them all?

Imaging sounds like the better rockers I have known and loved. Musically, if they keep this up, they'll skew younger than 105.9. And while 105.9 will hurt a bit, there's a potential here to obliterate the Buzz. I wondered why they didn't go this route when they first stole Bob & Tom, this is a much better pairing. It's still a bit early to start that "What's Bud's next format?" thread, though... isn't it?
