97.1 -NEW FORMAT AGAIN

when McCoy first went to Z-93...MGL did not go...and I thought the move to Z was 1981.
obviously, the coffee did not help me.

Now I have heard the Bob Reich name. Were you all snickering about the traffic gut talking back and forth to a tape machine? lol

MGL was at KX-104 early 80's, first with Coyote and finally Barry Fox. I think the latter was Coyote's no compete exile in Birmingham before returning to Nashville and Y-107 mornings.

I worked property management in Atlanta mid-1985 and remember MGL on air there.

MGL is a solid pro. When McCoy went to Atlanta the news anchor/side kick role wasn't open. But they had such perfect chemistry that to not have her with him was like seperating twins. He bugged me every day to get her to move. I'm so glad she said yes. She may have been running from something rather than TO something as timing played to our benefit. 92Q was becoming a different animal.
Steve soared with her in Atlanta. I never dreamed he would be able to connect with another talent but the pairing of him and Vikki Locke was incredible.

There is a side note and moral to this story. Mary Glen, Steve and Vikki all reached heights because they are each unselfish people who realize the strength of "the other person" also makes them better. Many teams have imploded over the years because somebody "had to be the star." It's like having a teenager who won't share the car with his brother or sister. Steve is a gracious pro who always allowed others around him to have a role and shine as well. He was the easiest morning talent I ever worked with because he just "got it."

I believe most morning show teams are like a marriage. Most of them can make it work if they want to. Many times they just don't want to.. Being flat out likeable like MGL and Steve and not so internally focused would be a goal many could learn from in a business that often breeds more insecurity than it should.

and 105.9 is so wimpy anymore it's perfect timimg and no matter what you say B&T still get ratings.

AMEN, AMEN ON 105.9! That is the whimpist, excuse for a Rock station I've ever seen. Best thing for them to do is bring back the "Star 106" format and get OUT of the Rock Race. The station sounds "so red neck" it's insane. Southern Rock has been dead and gone for years! What in the world is the matter with them. I guess since Clear Channel is in such a turboil going private, they don't care.

105.9 needs to hire Buntin to revive the station. ;D

The Buzz, everything that rocks.....where's Air Supply? The 55 plus call them Rock (HA!) ;D

What ever a "turboil" is is probably a good definition of that waste of 100kw. I actually remembered it was on the air
yesterday and decided to scan it in since it's not on one of my 50 pre-sets (okay 14) and it sounded great:

Shane Jewelers commercial...

The best it's sounded in years.
