Anyone know what happened to the signal stregth on 97.1? It dropped out around 10am yesterday? I'm actually losing it when driving under bridges, and my radio has trouble locking onto it in the Frisco/Plano area? ???

The station got knocked off the air Monday morning, and they're in the process of trying to fix the problem. The engineer I talked to said it might take a couple of weeks.

Of all The DFW Radio Stations. I never need to put my antenna up on my radio to get them. But to Get 97.1 I have to put it all the way up to get it clearly. This is Odd. To have the Powerful 100,000 watt Blowtorch on its knees in signal strength.

I have no idea. In the early 80's before there was a local 97.1 in Houston, they were an easy catch on a car radio. Blowtorch.

Knocked off by what? Too many bird strikes to the tower? A couple of weeks to repair?

Wow, this seems like the things non-commers run into, not the big boys.

I notice how my original question was ignored. ;D

I dont think anyone knows. I heard Chris Ryan yesterday say they were having issues with the tower.

No, it didn't. I don't know where you got that information. The tower the Eagle is on is swapping out TV antennas for another tenant. This requires the Eagle, along with several other stations, to go to backup transmitters. Eagle's backup sucks. So that's the problem. The work will continue for the next week or two depending on weather.

Sucks sums it pretty well: licensed power 97,000 watts ERP (100.000 watts with beam tilt). Aux power 1,000 watts, easily beat up by the tropo here lately...
