97.1 The Wolf Stockton/Modesto

As of right now, They are still Spanish. Somehow, I doubt, that 97.1 The Wolf will do damage to the invincible Kat Country 103.

No Doubt Kat Country is # 1 by a long shot in the ratings, Same way with KSKS 93.7 in Fresno, a couple of years ago 102.7 KHGE (big Country which is by the way owned by CC same as KATM) went Country and today can't compete with Kiss country owned by Peak(grandfathered signal of 68K at 4,500 ft in Elevation), KHGE only has a rating of about 1.3 in the latest survey. Also take in the factor of KUBB in Merced that has a good signal. Don't think 97.1 can make a dent with their power so low.

Isn't KATM owned by Citadel Broadcasting?

When KATM went on the air as Country, the following Modesto/Stockton Country Music Radio Stations disappeared: KTRB-860, KMIX-1390/98.3, KMIX-100.9, KFMR-100.1, KEJC-93.9 as well as Citadel's own, KBUL-970. In this market, signal is very important!

You are right it is Citadel I guess I got mixed up with the other group in Modesto,CC.

Don't forget FROGGY, they spent thousands on bill boards with that frog face everywhere and ended up with 0.9 12+, then they croaked.

You are right. I forgot about KFRY-Froggy 96.7. Lasted from October 1997-February 1999. Greg Edwards was the pd there. I believe he is programming KUBB-96.3 in Merced now.

Another reason, I don't think 97.1 The Wolf will succeed, will be that i don't think Entravision will spend the bucks to program it locally. I'll simply be a simulcast of KNTY-101.9 Shingle Springs/Sacramento.

They should give Modesto/Stockton a completely separate feed to have any chance of making it. Froggy 96.7 played the hits, was live or at least sounded live in most dayparts, and probably would have started cutting into KATM if they hadn't pulled the plug. It was one of the last stations to do a big ad campaign in the market, including billboards, and TV as I remember. Another well programmed Country station could work here, as even The Ranch 93.9 eventually scored a 5 rating 12+.

Don't know when The Wolf will debut but as of this morning, 97.1 is still Spanish "Jose".

I sent the KATs PD the link just in case they haven't found out yet.
I don't know if you beat me to it or not, but I sent the link to KAT's PD also. i sent mine this morning around 8:30AM via email.

Honestly, I don't think they would care. Especially the frequency. However if it was CC and they were the ones to purchase KSTN-FM Stockton instead of K-Love, and switched that to Country, I guarantee you, they would care.

I sent mine at 11am yesterday and I also sent an E-mail to Jose asking when the flip will be, I have yet to hear anything back. Madmansam, can you please check and make sure its still Spanish?I can't pick up the slightest trace of it out here in Concord, the KAT booms out here and sometimes locks in HD. The website has a lot of info as well. It says that Dave Kelly and Susan Brown will be its morning show. The picture of them shows them with a 101.9 The Wolf logo in the background. Also the website has some Classic Rock videos on the right side on the website.

97.1 Not Switching To Country "The Wolf"

Well, I got a response from KAT Country. They tell me that the 97.1 website was actually set up last year by Entravision but that they abandoned the planned format change to Country. The pd tells me that he would be surprised if the switch their format now to Country. They were already aware of that website.

Yeah, that is an old site. Plans to flip were scrapped awhile back. The original idea was a simulate hybrid of some sort of The Wolf in Sac.
