97.1 to improve Wichita coverage

The FCC just approved a change in the table of allotments to move 97.1 Hutchinson to Haven in order to blanket Wichita. Look for the facility change application to appear in the next 90 days.

That's good, any word on whether KSKU will stay Top-40 once they move in or will it change to a different format?

Well, I know there was talk that Entercom wanted it a few years ago when this application was being studied. However, I don't think we'll see that happen since Entercom would no longer be able to own the station since the ownership rules changed.

Even though I don't live in Hutch anymore, I'd hope it would stay top 40. There was a period in the mid 90's where the station just sounded horrible, but after about '98 on, the station sounded much better, had better talent, and a music mix that leaned alternative and was much more listenable than KKRD.

They're actually more Hot AC than top 40.

They'll need to do something different if they're going to compete in Wichita. They aren't even competing in Hutch right now.
