I bet he'll be back here posting before 9/20...

There he goes....(actual re-enactment as it happened 9/14 @ 3:08PM)

I think he'll be back too. I haven't always agreed with Scott either, but the more I've read what he posts here, the more I enjoy his unique perspective (as I do everyone else's, except for the occasional troublemaker that signs on just to start something!). He can get a bit high and mighty at times, but a lot of you here have pointed out that he is basically a one man radio station out there busting his a** everyday to keep it going. I have to respect that.

Also, Chris seems to be on the air 24/7 and how he still finds time to post cool scrolling glowing red messages is absolutely amazing to me!

Scott's right about one thing - all this talk about a station I only listen to when I want to make sure it's as bad as you all say it is gets pretty boring after a while. Cumulus isn't going to take a risk here or anywhere else. Look at the Wolf - I listen to it some. I like the music. But, it's like a can of chicken soup. It makes you feel a bit better when you're frustrated with the 90's bands on Jack-FM. It's nothing exciting and once you're feeling better, the last thing you want is chicken soup!

Maybe it's like the last episode of WKRP where Mrs. Carlson reveals she doesn't want the station to succeed and get profitable since it is a tax shelter..... or my other theory that Cumulus is secretly making money off boring us so badly on FM that we join XM.

(edited because I noticed I can't spell this early on a Sunday morning!)

Jeez though you can't blame us for thinking back to a time when radio was fun to listen to, or even work in. If you go back and listen to airchecks from the time period of the 50-70 year olds that are supossedly complaining, well know wonder! What fun those airchecks were from the 60's, 70's and even the 80's. Those guys were making excitement. Radio has not sounded that fun in well over a decade, and it's not improving. Well at least to my ears anyway. Oh sure I hear a few things from time to time that peaks the ears, even current T-40 is cookie cutter for the most part, the creativity needs to start there. Musically terrestrial radio has become cookie cutter as well, why is it you can scan the FM band and hear Classic Rock or some version of it wrapped up in a pretty name change, all over the place, there are at least four outlets that all play it. I like those artists, but there are other artists who's songs don't get played anymore or the artists or groups themselves don't even get airplay. Now on some Sirus, & XM stations I've enjoyed their specialty formats. I enjoy the 60's, 70's formats that they have, they sound fun. They are playing deeper from a musical standpoint, jock wise, there are some that impress. The legend boss jocks that have found their way on have been cool, Greg Brady ( Barry Williams) while he's no boss jock by any means at least wraps himself around the 70's format, and it's not bad. I would say that maybe that's the medium to flock to but, because it's sattelite and everyone everywhere can get the same channels, there isn't a big need for jocks, since the ones they have are either the cream of the crop or novelty TV stars. No big demand there.
I don't hide the fact that I miss the classic days of T-40 from the 60's, 70's, & even the 80's. I've mentioned it in many other posts. I don't want to become a cynical angry radio guy, I just keep hoping that terrestrial radio may become fun again, until then I'll just do my radio gig and hope I get the chance to do it again sometime soon and if I can make some comfortable money at it, I've hit "Solid Gold my fellow babies" (Dr. Johnny Fever) :D
