This is very random.... however, I worked for THE OASIS. I was just running boards overnight. Playing the CD's and poppin in the carts. I remember that I started the week of christmas and worked over night....all week. The PD would call me becuz the night guy was sick or had drank to much etc... and I ALWAYS said "YES, I will be there". She sometimes called me 2 hours before his damn shift. Which of course started at midnight. So, she would be calling me at 9 or 10 pm. I did this for a year. Then, when I was ready to leave for a station that was actually going to let me work, open the mic etc.... something she refused to let me do...I asked for a letter of recommendation. I felt that I had earned it. I was told that they did not do things like that...becuz I could be an AXE MURDERER... how would they know. Seriously. You think I am making that up...... NOPE. I was beyond pissed. I did everything they asked from me. I dropped everything as soon as they called to HELP THEM OUT and thats what I got from them.

The PD and her replacement.......were MASSIVE TOOLS.
 
Lattest scuttle butt is that KEGL is coming back as the Eagle, with a rock format. Doesn't make sense but what does Clear Channel do that makes sense.

If that's the scuttlebutt that's leaking out, that means it's exactly what they are NOT going to do....

Disinformation, pure and simple. Spread it around that it's rock...get everybody ready for that, and it covers up what you're really doing...The rock rumor is the magicians assistant, just there to draw attention away...

(And the reason I think this is such- the reason KZPS changed is because KZPS and KDBN were killing each other- not in ratings (both were doing okay within their key demos) but in billing...The Bone has made some strides there, but for this rock station to really succeed they'd need to get the billing from teh Bone, and what little money KZPS is drawing in, PLUS some, just to equal what they can get if they go after one of the lead billing dogs and get a healthy percentage of that pie...

Or to put it another way, half of crap is still crap. And KDBN and KZPS are billing crap (comparitively). Half (or even a quarter) of KLUV is billing WHAT!!! is 1/2what!
And 1/2 a WHAT! is a lot more than 2 halves of crap...)

That might work, check out www.webn.com in Cincinnati. They're in the top 5 in the latest trend according to www.radioandrecords.com

I just checked the latest trends. KZPS has a 1.8. KDBN has a 1.8. If they were able to take half of both of their audiences, they'd have a 1.8.

Now since Lonestar isn't being considered a rousing success, and nobody here thinks the Bone is scintilating cutting edge radio, why would another station come in and aim for a 1.8.

And if you REALLY think it's going to be rock, and do better than a 1.8, tell me where the audience is coming from. Give me an idea of what audience they're goingto peel off fromwhat other stations...

(And pulling a Richard Nixon and claiming that there's a 'silent majority" out there dying for a rock station ain't gonna fly...)

And does anybody think they'd really be able to take fully half of each of those 2 stations audience?
 
Simple answer:

There's an unsilent minority out there dying for a rock station. A REAL rock station. You know, one that ROCKS HARDER!!!

Agreed. I can see ZPS dropping Lonestar and aiming for active or all classic rock but I can't see CC adding another rock station at 97.1. Hasn't the Edge been trending down as well?
