97.1 is now playing some 90s country. Also hearing some updated liners/imaging for the first time in good while. Possibly years!

Well, they had to do something different. Playing the same 12 oldies country songs and trying to convince those of us who know better that those were ALL the old country songs there ever were, was getting old, in itself. It almost seems like this is where they were heading with the previous format. Take the ratings into the toilet, so you can justify a new format. It's a shame, too. Because, once again, Houston has been robbed of a station that once played (albeit ever-so-briefly) all the good old country hits; but, was hijacked by incompetence in its programming and management. Unless something has dramatically changed at Cox; I have a feeling that this will continue to be the case. Once they get a listener base built up; they will probably take the same abusive approach with those listeners too.

It astounds me how Cox has neglected that station over the years...in market #6. Jacked-up rotations (hearing the same songs around the same time several days in a row) with stale imaging and a worn-out jingle package. The station being jockless (outside of morning drive) has been the least of its problems!
