What???????? I don't think so. I remember EZ Rock back in the late 70's. It has to be atleast 25 years old by now.

1987: 97 point 3 CJEZ Toronto was born. FORMAT: easy listening

They later became Lite 97 point 3, lite hits.
Then Zed 97.3, Toronto's Classic hits

And Finally, 97 point 3 EZ Rock. (WOW! Really? that change took place in 1995? where did all the time go?)

CKFM and CHFI were the two in the 70's and 80's that had the soft rock audience in Toronto.
(Today, EZ is owned by the same people who own CKFM, which is also going to celebrate 14 years as Mix 999.)
______________

It's a New music driven Mix 999, while Jack is a Classic driven 92.5 Hugh, and it's doing better than Jack too.
(I do like Jack as much as Mix, but would like to make a request.)
______________

The problem is that some people want to believe that a station goes off the air and then comes back on the air when there is a format change. Some people cannot seem to grasp that radio/TV stations exist constantly; it is just the format that changes from time to time. And who can blame them? That is what radio and TV stations want you to believe. Out in BC, CIVT-TV launched in September 1997. Don't tell that to CTV though; they want you to believe that the station launched in September 2001, just because the on-air brand changed from VTV to BC CTV. Same goes for WUAB in Lorain/Cleveland, Ohio. On their website there is some reference to the station launching in March 2002. That station has been around since 1968; all that happened in 2002 was a branding change.

There was no easy rock station in the late 70's, and CJEZ FM at 97.3 FM signed on in 1987. There was no licence to broadcast on the 97.3 FM requency prior to that time.
______________
