97.3 FM is back

Apparently you do since you commented on it. You’re a grown “professional “ person, act like one. There’s not need for negative comments, if you or anyone else does not care of what I post then ignore it. Move on to what ever reason you are in this forum.

Getting somewhat spotty reception of 97.3 while driving around the Cy-Fair area. IBOC slopover from 97.1 is an issue, and the 97.3 signal is causing the car radio to lose HD lock on 97.1.

Presumably this is the reactivated K247CP. Programming is mostly soft (almost sleep inducing) Praise and Worship music in Spanish, interspersed with religious messages. I did hear a few local ads. Never heard a definite ID, although there are some 15 second music beds at various times that I assume are supposed to be the background for local ID sweepers.

Radio-locator claims that the originating station is KODA HD-3; however that is occupied by the origination of SportsMap 94.1. Did not find the programming during a quick scan of other FM HD subchannels.

Thank you, Stan, I liked your "empty prairie" picture posted above. It's OK to have a little humor on here - and not everyone cares about these small potato repeaters that are cluttering the FM dial and interfering with other co-channel and adjacent channel stations. I'm guessing that ESPN FM 97.5 is wiped out for many folks on the near west side by K247CP on FM 97.3 that reaches "maybe" 5% of the Houston area, meaning 95% of readers of this post cannot receive it, and those who can are ticked they can't hear ESPN Radio, BUT that might change when/if the new 2KW Booster Station is launched:

The promos say “Hum along with us”?

Did not listen long enough to listen to any promo, but the guy kept saying

Call me we’re here to play your favorite music and answer question here on 106.1 HUM FM.

97.3 is back on air, claiming to be Hum FM 106.1.

But they’re having different programming from 106.1. On 97.3 FM they are playing music on 106.1 FM they are just talking.

They did something similar the last time 97.3 was on the air. Never figured out if it was a different program stream or just a time-shifted feed. 97.3 signal very poor in Cy-Fair, and is affected by the IBOC sideband from 97.1.

Now they’re programming the same audio, with a little delay. But it’s on 97.3 first then a few seconds later on 106.1.

97.3 has gone silent again, and 98.7 isn’t transmitting La Caliente anymore. Now they have a format similar to what they had on 97.3 FM

What you are hearing on 98.7 is Masala Radio, which has been on KTEK 1110/96.1 weekday afternoons and all day on weekends. They are about to be displaced from KTEK once the sale to Immaculate Heart/Relevant Radio closes, which could be any day now. Plenty of mentions of 98.7, so they are getting the audience moved over.

The 98.7 translator, both the current facility and the CP, are well placed to cover the areas of town with a large South Asian demographic.

Masala Radio website is here: https://masalaradio.com/

Meanwhile I also hear dead air on 97.3, while La Caliente is still going on 105.3. Will have to check KHPT HD-3 to see what is going on with the 97.3 origination.
