97.5 Flips to Sports on Monday

950 ESPN is now 97.5 The Fanatic. All the great programming and sports talk you expect from us is now also heard on the FM dial.

97.5 The Fanatic - It Just Sounds Better.
sounds like to me they are keeping 950 espn and 97.5 espn..97.5 is ESPN Radio right now

How about pulling what Millennium did in Atlantic City?

ESPN on 97.5
ESPN Deportes on 950. Get the Phillies in Spanish from WUBA... lure them away with a bigger, better signal.

Got the sound turned down on the Yankee game and listening to Jon Miller on 97.5. Sounds good.

TOH station ID was WPEN Philadelphia, also heard on WNUW Burlington Philadelphia.

how can u stand that when the sound is 30 seconds behind live and 22 or 23 seconds behind your tv picture?

The timing couldn't be better with the Phillies in the playoffs, and ESPN Radio has the rights to the Series. Sure PHT has the Phillies play-by-play, but with ESPN, 97.5 will have access to all the other games and great content. Plus it looks like WPEN has the Westwood One NFL games with Sunday Night, Monday Night, and lots of others. Even if this only lasts through the end of the year, it's a great move and will get better ratings than what they had. It may even be better than if they'd switched to Christmas music.

ESPN is branding local sports web sites in lots of big cities where they have affiliates. Look for ESPNPhiladelphia.com to launch soon, with a promo campaign on the cable channel. They've already launched them in Boston and Chicago.

How about Preston and Steve as the new local morning show on 97.5? Put something with a lot more music in the morning on MMR (maybe the current afternoon show?). Then leave weekday morning/afternoon ESPN programming on 950. Simulcast the ESPN stuff on both stations in the off hours.

So what do people think? Do P&S fit better on a rock station or an FM sports station?

Yo dude. Stay off the drugs.

They should have done what 101.1 in St Louis did. Flipped to all-Christmas on an 80 degree day in early October (like today), and then flip to sports on December 26.
Or at least stunt with the Christmas music.
They should give the WNUW calls to 92.3 in New York

So, now even I'm confused, do I listen to 950 or 97.5 for the 'Nova game tomorrow at noon....? first game this year out of Philly that I wasn't at or at least saw on TV. (besides listening on radio of course).

They'll simulcast sports on both at least for a little while (tomorrow at least for the very fact of that game, I know many more people who'd be very confused). As for what they do with 950 afterwards, who knows. Talk is expensive, yes, because you have to pay the personalities or syndication fees. but music is also expensive, even lean and mean on automation you still have to pay those little licensing fees for the music.

If CBS counters and moves 'IP to 'YSP, that leaves another big AM with questions on format...

I'll volunteer and take either stick and program Alt/AAA again ala skin radio.... (no poetry this time)

... oh, haha, listening to 97.5 at 10:00 pm, I guess they still had a Fox Sports satellite tone break in and give an update until it sounds someone cut it off, and now sounds like the ESPN MLB feed is on the phone or something. Gotta love the mayhem of format changes. oh ok, sounds better at commercial break.

I'd expect Villanova on both frequencies tomorrow.

With corporate in Massachusetts, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't follow the WEEI playbook...

950 with a total ESPN simulcast

97.5 with the current lineup------probably adding a local morning show. The Preston & Steve idea is intriguing.

ESPN overnights and weekends on 97.5.

I have heard it will be

Steven A. Smith with Dan Schawrtzman from 10-to-noon
Harry Mayes and Vai Sikahema from noon-to-three
3-7 - Mikey Miss
Phillies baseball coming soon.

Hey----------I know there is a WFAN AM in NYC. Is there a WFAN FM? If not, GRAB EM!!

Ain't gonna happen. CBS (WFAN) is not about to permit a competitor,
i.e., Greater Media (WNUW), to share the calls.

WMGK HD-3 is still simulcasting WPEN same as 97.5 and 97.5 HD-2 is still Classical....what will happen to both HD's....and where would you go for the fantastic Christmas music 97.5 dished out last season, don't expect the B, JBR or OGL to play the same great stuff. If you don't want Satellite which is very good or Music Choice or the internet WHAT is a good choice, or maybe 97.5 will bring it to their HD-2, or MGK's HD-3. stay tuned....

I would have thought simulcast, but the new name and adjusted lineup tells me that is not the case. Sports on 950 is not long for the world. There will probably be something else on the frequency before the new year. A 94.3 WIBG type station would do well.
