97.5 FM in Philadelphia

Through the early 70s, WPEN AM & FM were MOR..the A/C of its time. In fact, many may not remember that the Flyers aired on WPEN the years they won the Stanley Cup. Because of FCC regulations, the stations would have to split feeds and not be a 100 percent simulcast. They programmed the same format on both stations. Unfortunately, much of the non simulcast time was at night and the Flyers games were relegated to 950 only. No help to Flyers fans in the Lehigh Valley.

Around 1974, Greater Media bought the stations and the launch of 95 PEN, the oldies format that was simulcast on both frequencies until Labor Day weekend of 75, when 102.9 was relaunched as WMGK, Magic 103. 950 stayed in the gold format for a few more years before flipping to nostalgia.
