This time, to all-Mainstream AC. LOL. (Anyone not see that coming?)

i was in the mini mart and they had now 97.5 on and i heard them say christmas music @ night

not unless they are just saying that until b101.1 flips to christmas then 97.5 goes full steam 15 miniutes later

This dayparted formatting is really weird. What are they, WRTI?

What's on 97.5 HD2? Maybe they should do what WRTI is doing.

Greater Media stopped broadcasting 97.5 in HD before WJJZ ended. I can't imagine why they haven't turned it back on. Maybe they're not happy with the signal strength into Philly and they don't like the way it locks and unlocks? I think shutting off the HD until they can get a good enough signal into their intended listening area is a good idea.

the same looped playlist why ?

If they are planning on doing this long-term, then they had better add some songs to that playlist. I, one of the many who listens to the NY/NJ all-Christmas stations when they start, am even burned out by their shallow playlist. I have to say, though, that the music they do play is not too bad at all. They just need to expand the playlist.

So, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, please expand the playlist. In certain areas in the car and at home on an upstairs radio, I can hear NOW 97-5, so I have actually been trying to listen, but even I am sick of the loop tape already.

Now has flipped back to mainstream AC again! I heard some regular AC music around 11:30 tonight on 97.5. When will they ever decide what format they'll have?

I'm still hearing Christmas music on my radio at 12:32 AM... The Crystals' "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town"...

By the way, I just checked out the Yes.com log for WNUW, and the last Christmas songs listed as played is John Lennon's "Happy Xmas" song - and nothing else!

I had no idea their Christmas playlist was that repetitive! :D

FYI - their last regular song played was Goo Goo Dolls "Give A Little Bit" at 5 PM on Monday.

This is traditionally the case as it happened with Sunny, B101, and now Now. It happens every year and I've seen it occur with stations in other markets as well. Although I can't imagine what the reason is, the folks at yes.com have to make some sort of adjustment. It catches very few songs (John Lennon and one of the Beach Boys songs spring to mind) until they flip whatever switch needs to be flipped.

Do you really enjoy the Christmas music this early?
I actually listen to Now 97.5 through the static and interference by pirate stations (and tropo last night) to hear Christmas music.

Yes. As a radio geek, I'd listen to it whenever they decide to start it. But aside from that, I'm the type of person who would listen religiously every year from November 1 on. I love Christmas because everyone is happy and nicer to one another and there's just a generally nice feeling. Having all-Christmas music this early simply kick-starts the holiday season...which would normally not start for a few more weeks. If there's a way to make people feel good for three extra weeks a year, I am all for it!

I avoid christmas music this early. Not until at least dec 1, do I indolge. though I have flipped passed 97.5 last night around 11:somethin and heard christmas music. I had had on action news on the radio before.

To keep with the festive colors, I'll post my reply in red. ;D

I completely agree with you about Christmas music, and that is why I was so glad that NOW started to do it early. I am in a part of Central Jersey where there is plenty of interference in the car, but on a good home tabletop radio, NOW comes in quite well. Nevertheless, I have really tired of their playlist and have chosen instead to listen to WCBS-FM's A-Z Election Week Countdown. I know that when the A-Z ends, there will be some form of Christmas music available for five or six weeks!

Philadelphia has been pretty lucky with getting Christmas music early in the past, something that this NYC radio listener has always been envious of! I would always try to pull in Sunny at night (even if just in mono) to hear Christmas music. It was a heck of a lot better than WLTW's Christmas music. Some year, I hope that a station takes on WLTW for a piece of the all-Christmas pie!!!

While sitting in the barber shop this afternoon I was reading the Inquirer. Michael Klein reports that they flipped back to AC at noon yesterday, but received many calls and emails from people who were liking the early Christmas music, so they decided to flip back to all Christmas at 5:00 pm. It seems like they may stay all Christmas now through the holiday season.
