97.5 K-Lake; 103.7 KVIL; 102.9 KDMX

with KVIL and KDMX now both broadcasting Hot AC Formats in north texas, have you guys noticed that 97.5 K-Lake (KLAK) music is leaning back to a more mainstream adult contemporary music format?

k-lake???

Yes, which I think is a smart move. There really is no reason for two Hot AC stations in the metroplex, but AC as a format is not doing well at the moment

ac station

in most areas yea AC formatted stations are having a hard time... but luckily since the AC format has always done well in the sherman denison area according to surveys in the area... we never used arbitron but used something else and klake was rated number 1 when they had a soft ac format for for over 20 years... and still top 3 rated stations in sherman denison even today...

the sherman denison market is a very diverse market even though were a number 160 market... we have a very diverse crowd and educated music fans in the Sher-Den area of texoma... I'm currently seeing the need of an album alternative music station here in the area that can do very well here... but I'm just babbling

so long story short.. i agree with you AC stations are having a hard time... but in sherman denison its going very well... and if it starts to have trouble I'm sure the guys at digity and klake will the meet the listeners need... the guys at digity media and the people who operate the station are some of the best people in the business and theres room to grow out here

The last time Arbitron conducted a radio survey for the Sherman/Dension market was 1979. (Though its county-by-county measurements still exist for subscribers.)

The small-market focused Eastlan company has measured the "Sherman/Denison/Durant" market for the last four years on an annual basis. The spring 2014 12+ numbers:
1. KMAD Classic Rock 10.2
2. WBAP N/T 9.9
3. KMKT Country 7.4
4. KQDR CHR 4.4
5. KLBC Country 4.1
6. KLAK AC 3.4
7. KHYI Americana 3.1
8. KKAJ Country 3.0
9. KDGE Alternative 2.4
9. KJIM Adult Standards 2.4

Thanks for the ratings information -- definitely a couple of surprises in there, especially that KLAK is getting beat in the ratings by KQDR. When I've been up to the Texoma area, I've been underwhelmed by their on-air presentation, which is a very lifeless alternation of song/liner/song/liner/etc. KQDR also creates a very down-market perception for those who have RDS equipped car radios, as they use the RDS service to flash the name and phone number of bail bond service...in general, I've not been impressed by "Hot 107.3".

i was hired as the asisstant operations manager at KQDR-FM just a few weeks ago... i been working real hard to get the rds fixed... and some of the new and current shows were going to be having on... will be getting better... i posted this before i started working again in radio so...

Right On, Congrats Man.
Kinda funny seeing someone else work at the only other Commercial station in Fannin County, even if KQDR serves Sherman.

Oh, tell your Co-workers at KISY in Paris to get a website, its 2014 going on 2015. You cannot be a top 40 without ANY web or social media connection at all.
