I think they went down in power more than a week ago - they are no longer a factor in Richardson. KLAK seems stronger, but since the difference is only 15 miles and little more height, its hard to tell.

I was up at the Carrollton Senior Center riding my bike, and was listening to it most of my time up there on my Sony Walkman. but the cold front could have had an impact on it. The lowpower translator is really hard to pick up in Carrollton for some reason now. I think that KLAK could havea big impact on MIX listeners in Collin county (McKinney) area, because the translator is difficult to pick up there from what I understand. <P ID="signature">______________

I’ve tried sampling 97.5 the past couple of days in Mesquite (near Town East Mall). I can pick it up but there’s lots of static. It’s a little better in FM mono, but not by much. How much power are they using? It must be less than what KEOM uses because it’s my understanding KEOM covers most of Collin quite easily.

You have an 11 year old fan in McKinney! She said that your station was her favorite. I haven't had any problems at all after your issues of a year or two with the lightning strike. I remember hearing you one time way down I-45, halfway to Houston. So you are really getting out.
KLAK must be on their new stick. They drop out much less all over South Plano, and were giving KWTX a real run for their money down in Richardson. Last night they were doing fine in Richardson - a few dropouts in low areas, but Plano was solid. That translator is GONE in Richardson and Plano. I am sure with a directional you could probably get a signal, but they used to bleed all over KLAK in Richardson and into Plano. No more. Nothing.

But remember that KLAK's new transmitter site is in the southern part of Grayson county, even though they are targeting Collin County. They are a class C2, with power comparable to KHYI/95.3 -- the equivalent of 50 kw at 150 meters (both are on taller towers, so actual power is slightly less, but range is the same).
