97.5 WKMZ Returns

As you may be aware, the original incarnation of WKMZ at 97.5 was also a CHR. Like a lot of heritage CHR's, 'KMZ got caught up in being something nobody wanted to be in the '90's and switched to classic rock. I seem to remember that it lasted a lot longer than a lot of other such stations but still ran away about a year or two before the format saw a resurgence around '96.

The classic rock format was shuffled to the weaker 95.9 stick and continued on for a few years before giving way to oldies/classic hits and eventually country.

It went back to its old AC format and branding as “Today’s 97.5.” Despite having the best signal of the top-40's around Hagerstown, the return of WKMZ never caught on. It consistently ranked a distant 3rd behind Hits and Wild.
