97.7 WMOI in Monmouth should go top-40

97.7 WMOI in Monmouth should try a top-40 format. The area has too many AC stations and WMOI just can't compete with 105.3 KFM. WMOI with a top-40 format would fill a void in the market and it would draw listeners. If I owned the station, I'd call it Blazin' the Prairie with Today's Hit Music, the new 97.7 HOT-FM. I'd add N2Effect imaging and give the station a great website, with a webcast and podcasts. The station would make a point to be at community events and reach out to young people...maybe have a talk show geared towards young people that addresses current events, issues facing them, in an entertaining and informative way. Small market radio should be an outlet where innovation happens, a place to try new programming ideas out.
