97.9 in Wilson

The past few times I've gone through Wilson I keep hearing a silent carrier on 97.9. It's pretty strong on the 264/795 bypass and doesn't really start to die out until Bailey. Any idea what this is? Seems pretty strong for an LPFM.

If only I'd searched :) I figured the station was registered to some off the wall town so I never looked.
There's no teling what Conner is using or planning to use that for.

Unless something has changed they don't own WTKF/WJNC...

I just looked and found that it is supposed to rebroadcast 88.7 WAGO/Snow Hill. I guess another example of inundating the dial so people will listen.

88.7 is the original Go Mix station. They're still going strong. Not a bad station overall actually, but I still can't see the financial sense in using a translator in Wilson when your main station is in Snow Hill.

But then again they also have a translator in Kinston.

In addition to the main station being in Snow Hill, they have an 11kw station with a tower near Scotland Neck. As WZRU Public Radio, I remember we covered Rocky Mount well...and Wilson was fairly clear most of the time. It seems like a wasted translator (the one on 97.9).
