I was wondering if anyone has any news on why KNUU has gone dark for over a week. Their internet stream also went silent; did the new owners forget to pay the electric bill or did the new owners plan it this way?
Since Business Talk Radio also is trying to sell a station in the Pittsburgh market, I've been interested in all the BTRN transactions. This was a Twitter posting from three days ago as quoted on the Immaculate Heart Radio website this afternoon ...
Viva! #Las Vegas! #Catholic radio on AM970 Jan. 13, 2013. Stay tuned. t.co/BhDrzWyx
I apologize I'm not sure how to set up the links for this but you can go to ihradio.com
RE; KNUU....(I used to work there) the FCC took the station away from the criminally charged owner of BTR they turned it over to a receiver to keep it going till the sale went thru...appearently the money to pay the electric bill ran out. The whole thing is a sad, sordid and complicated story. For some insite you may want to Google Michael Metter ex owner.
Boy Vegas sure has problems with business ethics. Night clubs, Limo services, HOA's, construction, attorneys, doctors/clinics, radio stations....and the little guy trying to make a buck seems to be left in the dust. Thanks for the info, Jerry, I am suprised Knapp, Ralston or someone has not covered the radio scandal more.
I remember those soap filled sponges on TV for a time,
I don't know MC maybe the story is so weird no one would believe it. Metter is based in Connecticut maybe that has somethng to do with the lack of scandal here. It has been the subject of internet stories and in CN newspapers.
Here in Phoenix, 1310 went silent for a month before IHR took over a few years back. It appears they don't want to deal with a transition...turn off the transmitter and turn it back on when it's ready.
AM 970 IS BACK ON THE AIR!!! The new call letters are ... KNIH Immaculate Heart Radio... Bishop Pepe, of the Las Vegas Catholic Diocese, flipped the switch on Saturday 1/5/13 at 2 PM. The Catholic perspective can be heard on programming around the clock. It is a refreshing change from local and syndicated non-stop political talk.
I heard a station in the Calif Central Valley, I think it was a IHR? guess they have 29 stations, they did seem to get a little political once and a while, but I hope they can bring some hope to a place were the economy is still weak. Nice to have an alternative, I wonder where the business news junkies go now? knpr?
Has Norm mentioned the change yet?
http://ihradio.com/ went to their website, the last tweet that went out was about a political protest in Paris in support of "traditional marriage" - so kind of political, but a least it is something different and I will dial flip on there from time to time.
