970 WFLA Turns A Page

970 WFLA has replaced the late Brian James with former 93.3FLZ voice over artist Chris Corley for top and bottom station ID's. 970 has new sounders for traffic and weather too! Newsradio 970 rules, as the ratings prove. Further updates on this still developing story as they become necessary, stay tuned.

Re: 970 WFLA's new imaging

I have to tell you, Hal, I'm not really a fan of the new sounders or beds. Kinda low and difficult to hear -- not exactly an attention-getting call to action like the ABC- and Fox-themed pieces were. They often sound like music from an adjacent station bleeding under the newscasters. Only the weather sounder seems to register. That said, Chris Corley does bring a nice, understated voice to the station's imaging. He has a subtle, less-is-more sound, not quite as breathless with excitement as Brian offered (and he did excellent work -- a legend).

I'm going to give it time and see if it grows on me. Right now, I'm not wowed.
