971 The River

When I heard the name 971 The River for the new station I thought the name was very strange. I talked to J. J. Jackson and told him about the name and he said they should have called it something other than that. He said that they should do like what they did for his new station they called it 100.5 The Louie after the town it is in which is Louisville, Ky. one name he suggested was 971 The Hooch. Now in my own opinion I think they should have brought back the old name of the station from before 971 Jamz. They should have either called it Fox 97, Fox 97.1 for classic hits, or 971 The Fox. Iknow that in Cincinnati, Oh they have a station called 92.9 The Fox, so 97.1 The Fox could have worked because they too play classic rock, but that station is owned by Clear Channel. One last thin is that a while back I called the request line when the station was still 971 Jamz and left a message on it telling them that their format stunk and that they should change the station back to oldies or ove classic rock, and I think they actually listened to me. So maybe we could all call the number and tell them to change the name too. The number is still (404)-741-9797.

Let be get this straight: you really believe they changed the format
because you suggested it on the request line?
I bet we could come up with a large list of stations you should
call if you could pull THAT off!
______________

Cincy's Fox is 92.5. Used to be really good, but it's not as great as it used to be. The River is a goofy name though, you would think a station with the name The River would be a light music or an easy listening station.

I think its nice to hear such a change in the Atl. 96 rock is a joke.. This station is just what we classic hit fans needed. Also the River is a great name.
How bout WRVV In Harrisburg, Its the river also and a great station. Atl needs a image change, For far too long weve been the sleepy ole south time to make this radio market one to listen to. Thank you Cox. The River rocks.
______________

I saw the ad on tv for "the River" and took a listen to it the next day. Not impressed at all. I heard four songs before I changed back to my iPod. Two classic rock songs, and two...well...70's AM classics (best way to put it). It may as well be 98.5 with a little classic rock mixed in.

And as for the name....I keep thinking of it as a Christian radio station....
______________
