98.1 and Qantum???

soooooooo all of you who seem to know so much when is Qantum going to take over 98.1?...we need music on that station! After reading the law.com article where Ron Hale was hammered by a judge in south florida for lying under oath and using the court system to stay in business.....how in the world does he continue on? had heard Qantum was taking over Sept 8, but didn't happen today...when will it happen?

Any format guesses?

1)News Talk (even though we have 1260 it will be the FM version of it and the AM doesn't go very far at night)
2)Oldies (101.1 WCBS FM style)
3)Country (naa)
4)Top 40 MIX 98.1 moving from 103.1
5)Women's "DIVA FM" (like New Orleans 92.3 FM which is it's own format)

I don't know anything about the sale. I thought it was going to be a few years from now. Or are they keeping the talk format?
Anyone else?

-Rob

My source close to Frank Osbourne told me that they are still...(going on what 3 years now) tied up with lawsuits over this thing.

I heard that whichever is Qantum's strongest station will move to 98.1 and the other stations they own will follow suit....anyone know what will with 100.3 KRock...will it go to sports after 98.1 goes away or will it go back to Cumulus with the $$$ Hale owes them too from the original deal?
BL

I think Cumulus is at their limit.....Hale loves that krock thing It will prob stay until he can't afford it anymore

Well, 100.3 is licensed to Niceville so I don't think that will count. (or is that now licensed to FWB)??

So, if they wanted to, they could put the station with the KROCK and maybe put 100.3 to say an oldies format.

(which is a very original name..I may add but good station)

..how about "beach 98.1" or "surf 98.1"

BTW, their website expired and it's a spam site.

the original Top 40 98 surf was a good station. 98one classic rock was gr-8. The Affable Communications attempt (by so-called
Old School "Experts" was a damn joke of typical head strong egomaniacs with not common sense.) 98 could do some damage if
run correctly. I dunno if Qantum can do anythong right or not. The karma may be to bad. Niceville is part of the FW/Destin market.

I still am amazed that Ron Hale is able to make payroll after all the hell. I think he needs to write a book on how to pull this
off.

If Qantum ends up with it, I'd bet on a shift of Mix from 103.1 to 98.1. Right now the relatively weak signal from over there in the swamp is the biggest thing keeping them down with "taxi calls."

Country isn't a bad bet, though. 98.1 would have a big signal advantage over 105.5. In head-to-head format battles, put your money on the bigger signal.

Redneck....I'm with you on that WMXZ (103.1) would do better on 98.1.. It wouldn't suprise me if that is what happens...when I was OM there we talked about that as an option.... Of course one thing that is lacking in that market is an FM Talker...

JV

and the AM talker doesn't even go far (they midas well shut it off) at night.

Unless your in the target parking lot, forget it.
