98.1 in Knoxville..

I couldn't find the old thread so I started it again;

Any more news on this pirate? I can listen in W. Knoxville around Middlebrook Pike and travel to Powell when I lose it just north of Merchants Rd. Sounds all 80's right now, which I like since 93.1 went country.

I like it, I picked it up all the way out on 40 at the knox county line,, patchy but ok reception... I like it since the point is gone, I-100 is long gone, and WImz is too hard and 97.5 is too soft... Kudos to the guy at 98.1,,, I think it might be a replay of 80s on music choice-comcast..... but IDK.... Its like having the point and the old woki back.

The original thread in question is currently on page 3 and it answers most of your questions. It's apparently a guy playing music off an IPOD and he has been doing so for several years. The only thing I can't figure out is how he is able to get such smooth segues from an IPOD. Anyway the transmitter location was revealed in the other thread. I've driven out there too and agree that it's probably the correct location. As for the format, I also agree. Kudos to him for keeping the '80s format alive since The Point went away.

He's not using an IPOD. He's re-broadcasting one of Comcast's music channels. What amazes me is that the FCC has not paid him a visit sooner.

because he has a clean signal,,, no interference, adverts, or profanity.
