98.1 in Río Piedras?

I was at Río Piedras one day, when I got a pretty clear signal on 98.1 on my car radio. The format was Christian music. What could this be?

Heard it again today. There was a guy praying. What station could this be?

I can't find any record of a station in either PR or the Virgin Islands on 98.1.

There are plenty of unlicensed stations on the mainland, I suppose there's no reason for PR to be immune....

Obviously, if the language was English, it is likely the VI (including the British VI, which have been heard in SJ metro... there is a 98.1 application for Santa Isabel, but it is not even a CP.

Pirate, translator or ?

FWIW I can't find any record of a translator on that frequency (not even an application) either in PR or the USVI. The applications for Santa Isabel (there are five of them) are the only things I'm seeing in the FCC DB on that frequency in either location.

You do have a good point about the British VI though.

If it's in Spanish, I'd sure bet it's a pirate. Or DX?
