98.1 KISS-FM (The Bay Old Skool)

This station is a mess. One week they play current hits, another week all classic old skool hits. Have they made up their mind if they want to play current or old skool hits?

Agreed. Its like Hot 92.3 in LA, which is supposibly a Rhythmic AC, but it doesn't even follow its format. Isn't 98.1 also Rhythmic AC aswell? If so, it sure isn't following its format, both stations waste my time. Clear Channel, make up your mind and pick ONE format!

They were imaging as "The Beat of The Bay", now it's Old School!?

No - they're still "the Beat of the Bay,", but that's just a slogan, and means anything they want it to...as long as the music skews 'urban,' I guess.

Kiss-FM has played primarily "old school" (classic soul) since inception (about 1998, I think), and have more recently added music from the 90s, and some current hits.

Every time I tune them in (a couple times a week, usually weekends), they're still playing primarily old school. Maybe it varies by day part. In my opinion, the new variety is a good thing. and the station sounds better. After a decade of the same few dozen 70s soul and Motwon hits, the station was sounding pretty dull, in my opinion.

According to their website at 8:25 AM, the last 10 songs played were: (1) Chic - Good Times, (2) Spinners - Could It Be I'm Falling In Love (3) Pointer Sisters - He's So Shy, (4)Evelyn Champagne King - Love Come Down, (5) Pebbles - Girlfriend, (6) Frankie Smith - Double Dutch Bus, (7) Michael Jackson - P.Y.T., (8) Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam - Can You Feel The Beat, (9)Diana Ross & The Supremes - Reflections, and (10) Pretty Poison - Catch Me.

Seems pretty typical to me.

New PD same guy who program KMVN Movin 93.9 in Los Angeles and the old Mega 92.3 Same thing when he took over Movin dropped all currents and focused on 70's and 80's. Then towards the end he added New Wave 80's hits. Pretty dull to me

When I listen to KISS, I do not hear any liners referring to "The Beat of The Bay." The only reference I hear is, "Old School."

Just checked their web site. All references to "The Beat of The Bay" are gone. But they are stressing "The Bay's Old School"

I liked it was KISS played a Mega Mix of Michael Jackson Music in August. He would have been 50

Does anyone have a MP3 of the Mega Mix??

If you want to hear a great R&B and Old School station.....Stream KOCEAN 105 out of Monterey.

They play the standard stuff, but they also play alot of stuff you don't usually hear on the standard Old School Station...and even throw in some New Wave 80's stuff....Actually works!
