98.1 Louisville?

I saw a post on radioinsight about 98.1 Louisville. This was a subscription article so I couldn't read any further. Does anyone know anything about this? New translator?

Looks like W250BD wants to move from 97.9 to 98.1. Also looks like a repeater of WLGX-HD2?

I've picked up WBUL-HD1/2 on Shelbyville Road in Louisville.

A repeat of My 100.5? That's another signal wasted on that format. They should let Matt Jones use it to launch KSR 98.1, I know u would be on board with this 👍🏻

Not 100.5, but 100.5 HD2. Which I am not sure what that format is. Used to be the 80's.

WBUL HD-2 repeats on 98.5 here (Bull Icons), and WLKT HD-2 (Wild 103.9) repeats on 103.9 as well.

97.9 is one of the K-LOVE affiliates and the translator itself is actually owned by EMF... has been for a few years. The other one is 95.1 (I THINK), both come from WLGX HD-2. One issue with 97.9 is that WSLM in Salem, IN is also on 97.9. I have no clue what exactly WSLM is. Their format is described as "classic hits," their website describes them as "classic rock," and their on-air lineup according to their website appears to be some hodgepodge of religion, business talk, a daily radio flea market show, radio Indiana high school sports, and (of all things...) Rick and Bubba in the morning and Delilah at night. So I couldn't really tell you what they are. Any time the 97.9 translator is off the air (which seems to happen quite often, for days or weeks at a time), sometimes WSLM comes in on 97.9 in Louisville, if WSIX in Nashville doesn't overpower it. But there seems to be some significant overlap between WSLM and the K-LOVE translator. Perhaps that is why.

95.1 and 97.9 are both owned by EMF and broadcast K-LOVE on both frequencies through WLGX HD-2. Recently 97.9 requested a reduction in power (due to an interference complaint from WSLM) until they could figure out how to fix the problem. The solution was to apply for a move from 97.9 to 98.1 which was granted.
I don't think anything will change since EMF owns the stations. They both will most likely remain K-LOVE.

That's one of the dumbest moves they could have made. WBUL out of Lexington comes booming into the eastern part of Louisville on a daily basis under normal conditions! This is likely going to cause problems for the Bull in Simpsonville and Shelbyville where I'm sure they have plenty of regular listeners. The FCC is not a very smart organization at all. Won't be long before they start getting complaints from WBUL listeners.

Maybe so, but it seems like having the translator at 97.9 was a much bigger problem for WSLM than having it at 98.1 will be for WBUL. WSLM doesn't have a very large (or densely populated) coverage area to begin with, and the translator was eating up a lot of what it did have. Of course the real problem is that there are so many translators now that they have nowhere to go without stepping on somebody's feet.

That is what I was saying, I could pick up WBUL-HD1/2 in Louisville. So that tells you how strong the signal is coming into the eastern part of Louisville. Granted WAMZ and WBUL sound exactly with the same.

I am still wondering what will happen to WVLK and WSGS on 101.1.

I look forward to hearing what WeNeverKnow to say?

I am sure all of us are wrong.
