Well... Welll... The problem with Adventure is they have too many stations that are competing for the same audience... There is a viable market in Savannah/Hilton Head for Oldies but nor traditional Oldies... Begin with the Beatles 1964 for the kids out ther and do fifteen years of top ten hits... Each year drop the earliest year and add the next year... Classic Hits, Classic Rock, AOR, Soft Rock... all are pretty much the same sound in the Listeners Head... You have to offer a great product that is familiar with a particular listener... for instance Magic for Cumulus... They did not spend a lot of dollars renting listeners... They put on a good product and went to the streets looking for the audience they targeted and invited them in... Also two great "talk" shows are going to find an audience from the life style group... Gator will never perform with the current line up... Mike and Laura were dropped by Cumulus because of declining ratings over a number of books... Laura is fair to good but Mike comes across a little too grouchy, hateful.... pick and adjective.... Also the only way to do Country right is with personalities accross the board and until Adventure decides to put more human beings on the air instead of VT the other shows they can expect more decline...Rick and Bubba will not help Adventure.... They seldom perform in other markets... The best thing Adventure is doing right now is staying away from the Urban Arena... It is way over saturated for this size market... There are only som many Ethnic dollars in a market and Cumulus already has most of those with E-93 and CC has the other 12 - 15% with their three urban stations...Z 102 .... CHR/Hot AC stations are cume driven not the same type of animal a Country or even an urban format is... the fact is no CHR/Hot AC is making history right now... Also Alt Rock is such a niche format it would be a crime to put that format on z102.. If they were smart... They would bring back Cool on the 102 signal and it would start paying dividends immediately.
But that won't happen because the directive has to come from Atlanta and for the most part they don't listen to the local guys...
What ever .... Thesmartest guy in Savannah Radio is Jerry Rogers... I'll bet he does close to 2 mil a year and laughs at everyone else as he takes another boatload of cash to the bank!!
