98.3 The Cloud

Anyone know the status of the 98.3 move-in? Curious, since I recall them saying it would likely be in the first quarter of the year, and I've heard nothing further.

Likely to be at least several more months off yet as they must build their own facility and move KQSS to their new site and frequency. The later move includes a 350 ft tower amongst other changes and no construction has started yet.

KKLD has now received a CP to build and KQSS just got their CP a week ago to change to 101.9 however, they will keep their current transmitter site plus as an added bonus to KQSS, they will raise their antenna by 200 feet with a tower height totaling taller than 324 feet! Looks like Globe is going to get some new blinking red lights on the hill.

As radiorider mentioned the tower will be 350ft and my post should have read center of radiation 324 feet. New radio board failed to let me edit post.

Actually they are going to be flashing white strobe lights from what was proposed to the city. I hear this is to be the tallest structure in Gila county, yet the P&Z was never consulted. Hmmm. Still the Rad center has a negative HAAT, and is about a MILE below the other stations like KVJC, KCDX and the KJZZ translator.

Permit for tower was granted by Globe building inspector in 20 mins weeks ago. no problems, no conflict. Tower, like current site is in the Globe city limits. Globe has no height restrictions. Change is still months away.
