98.5 MP3Radio

Wow guy I don't know who you are but you have a great selection of oldies. Anybody who can pull out some of these vintage tunes really knows their music. The signal is great, I got traces of it up to Harris Blvd and I-77! It sounded good along Independence Blvd too but the signal was fighting another station or two on 98.5 pick a better frequency!

The audio quality was great too by the way. Whoever you are I'd like to meet and talk music.

AGAIN WOW!

Thanks again Mike.

I’m just an OLD radio geek like your self who enjoys listening to all kinds of oldies. I haven’t really changed anything on MP3Radio since 2005. I’ve added a few more tunes but everything else is the same. Tropospheric ducting has a lot to do with the strength and interference of my flea power signal.
I figure as long as a few of my old geezer friends and neighbors are still alive and enjoy the music, I’ll continue to play when I can.

Friday Night- 80’s
Sat- 70’s
Sun- 60’s (6am-6pm); 50’s (6pm-Mid)

Anybody that remembers "Don't You Know" by Della Reese is my hero (I had the 45 RCA Victor), it was a kick to hear it on the radio again. So many oldies stations forget the pop songs that were a big part of top 40 back in the day. Somebody needs to give you and I a radio station!

Funny how as kids many of up played around with radio transmitters and some are still doing it. I don't see today's kids doing that at all. They are too busy with video games and the internet.

oops I guess we're on the internet too! <grin>

mp3radioguy,
What time do you play 80s on fridays? I'm usually in traffic at 5 pm on independence blvd coming home from uptown CLT. :)

Mike, I found an old Heathkit color bar generator the other week at a flea market and lo and behold, that's the same thing, me and the boyz used in Gainesville to build that great WZAP Xmitter.

I should have this thing converted over in about a day...Whoopie.. Here I go again!!!

Good luck and don't get caught. Chances are you'll bring something to the radio that is missing....fun!

I’ve never been able to pick it up very good on Independence, but maybe you’ve got a better radio than I have.

Retro 80’s
2pm-2am

I was on Independence today, along with Central, The Plaza, Idlewild and Lawyers Road and could not pick it up. I got the translator for Joy FM out of Hemby Bridge all the way to Albemarle Road! Without giving away your location, what spots would I expect to be able to get it best? I am a delivery driver and would love to listen tomorrow. I agree with the earlier poster, you need a new frequency! 98.5 is too crowded. Maybe 101.5?

Where are the best parts of town to catch the signal???

I listened form the post office at the corner of Matheson and Graham yesterday. Some good 80's tunes! I loved it! I listened heading down Graham and into uptown. In uptown it started fighting with the Joy FM translator. I continued onto I-77. When I got to the Remount exit, it was almost unlistenable and I completely lost it at the Clanton exit (exit 7).

I was able to hear the station today on eastway heading towards n. tryon. It's an amazing station. Too bad the signal is not good everywhere. Great 70s variety and excellent jingles. MP3RadioGuy, you are a radio genious..
