Now That AGM has moved 98.5 to a 70's format by droping all 50's & 60's except for about 2 60's tunes an hour...

How well do you think they will do?
How Long do you think Box will stay?

4 song set I heard on my way home

No Time By The Guess Who into Start Me Up by The Stones Then Carly Simon Your So Vain into 3 dog night Old fashion Love Song,,, What do you guys think of that mix

Thoughts????

As Always Good Luck to All & God Bless

Long overdue.
Playing 50's & 60's in 2009 is suicide.
Programmer's have to move their stations up.
Example KIOT-FM added newer music to their line-up..and they are now consistently in the top 5 12 + and very strong 25-54.

Four in a row..if it's the music a listener wants..it's great!

Bobby Box should be doing weekend specialty shows..I've tried to listen, but get lost trying to follow his train of thought that gets derailed.

Am's playing 50's & 60's are about where they should be..marginal.
I do compliment you Double C on your cheerleading efforts.
But your preaching to the wrong choir.

As always, just my opinion.

You are Right Oldies are in the Right place on AM.

Our Cume is up and I was Told by an agency that bought our Elvis Show last Fall That the Elvis Show was top 5 12+ which goes to your specialty show thought.

Look as This economy is showing us its the 50+ folks that are the ones with the Money to Go out and spend money.
Our Ad sales are UP over this time last year SO the More 50 yearolds and up that 98.5 wants to send us the Better. After All its the 60 yearolds that buy the $50,000 rv's

As Always Be Good to each Other and Keep on Keeping On

The Elvis show is probably a very good one..and a good buy.
but that's one show on the weekend.

If you look at the breakouts for morning, mid-day and pm drive..M-F,marketwide,
the AM's are not there..
weekends..better.

Cliche to say the older set are buying $50,000 motorhomes..but up and down
the freeeway, I haven't noticed them. Must be busy trying to survive the times.

This am debate must stop. I don't care what you dream and say Mr. C you must be ok with working on the Titanic. AM is DEAD DEAD DEAD. Kepp makeing your 7 dollars an hour till the sun sets but you don't show up in the book enough to be even having this stupid debate!
Try selling it yourself and see how much money you make.

Cue Burn your remarks do not desrve a response. I will NOT get drug down to your Negative level.
Have a Nice Day and I pray That you will get some sunshine in your life.

Well, those folks are probably w/ Citadel and Clear Channel, companies whose AM's will indeed be dead when they go bankrupt by the end of this year. I feel sorry for them.

Double C you are doing well w/ 1100/1550/1600 and perhaps can accumulate enough case to buy one of the smaller Citadel properties when they're for sale later this year.

Yes indeed it is the older folks who can afford the RV's and electric cars

All the best w/ your amazing AM's

You are Right Oldies are in the Right place on AM.
Keeping doing it your way! Fact is you are doing it the right way for this day and age;
Developing long term relationships not only with your clients, but your audience too. Don't let this get out, but I find younger folks listening to AM too; some do it because they are tired of being brainwashed by the left wing media, others just like to be informed. Some just like to explore the radio dial, your stations give young people a chance to enjoy radio the way it use to be with personalities instead of voice tracking and endless over researched predictable play list. The future income earners, I know enjoy the oldies as much as we old farts.

In Grants, New Mexico, there is a station that started out as cable FM station in Thousand Oaks, California and grown into a station that is now expanding into the edge of the Albuquerque market with innovative programming and has a loyal world wide audience. Some people don't listen to the form of modulation, but to the programming being modulated; can you believe that!

I know one radio station owner who laughs all the way to the bank, while others squabble and nitpick his position in the book. The book nuts, are clueless about the heart and soul of broadcasting. My friend bought the station cheap for cash, has zero debt and charge lower rates while still taking home a fist full of dollars and enjoying life as an independent broadcaster who was guaranteed to fail by the book readers.

Enjoy another stress free broadcast day doing what you love! Double C
