98.5 The Beat or The Party?

The party is playing more dance tracks, but The beat sounds almost like top 40 now. What happens if the party is pulling away listeners from The beat will they kill The party?

I've noticed the change on 98.5 The Beat. If they're really changing the Beat to top40, maybe they can move Party to 98.5 and just have The Beat on 97.7, but with hip-hop again.

Or they can keep "The Beat" in the name on 98.5 and just stop calling it "Hip-Hop and R&B."

Is the tweak at The Beat evidence that The Party had some impact as a flanker? Or is The Beat just getting out in front of larger trends in the marketplace?

(FTR, I don't listen to or even have an opinion on either station, I'm just asking because I'm intrigued by the strategy and horserace aspect of counter-programming.)

The Beat is certainly lots better than KTFM and Mix.

The Beat is not the same station it was a few years ago.

In any case, I prefer KTFM over Mix and The Beat. As for Party, in my opinion they need get rid of that Pop Rock b/s they throw in.

Yogi Berra used to say, "Nobody goes there. It's too crowded."
The radio version apparently is "Nobody likes that music. It's too popular."
