98.5 The Beat

I am just bored. When this station first signed on they had a short playlist but they killed the competition. (eventually) It was something new. Now-a-days I just turn to find something new. The music slacks at times. The jocks are either original, stupid, or have their head where the sun dont shine. I know I am being a little harsh but I want to state that I do like The Beat. But lack of competition has made them a little soft in my book. I hear some new jock from time to time. She sounds good. Wonder where she came from? Finally another woman. Too much testosterone from time to time if you ask me.

I dont realy see how any of these hiphop stations around here stay on. The beat has good programming as far as mixshows goes and whatever, but damn they just play the same old song over and over, I wish they would add new hiphop, there IS new hiphop out there, but none arnt playing any. I gues I dont realy understand it around here. Down in Houston // Victoria they always add new music, Victoria's top 40 station plays music I havnt even heard up here. What are the PD's doing around here??

To be honest I dont think you can blame one person or PD. The whole market sounds watered-down. Mix is horrible. 106 sounds as if they have a playlist 10 songs long (and those 10 songs were from 3 years ago mind you), Krock (not worth mentioning), KISS (same o same o)... who else is there? San Antonio is my home town and I always love coming back to visit... but how can someone (especially someone in radio) stand to turn on the dial without wanting to instantly turn it right off? Cali has some great hip hop stations. So does Flordia. I think the Beat needs to do some station research instead of listener research to maybe help them out.

Whether it's here or elsewhere, many stations repeat the same ol sh*t. 106.7 should of stayed with its dance format but mix in some Hip Hop to stay competitive.

that new dj youve been hearing on 985 the beat is Nikki she recently worked as AMD/morning cohost at sister-station KBTQ in the RGV before the stupid people in management flipped it.

Once again it's just not here in S.A., it's everywhere you go. Too many stations play the same ol b/s. I wish more stations would be creative and unique but that's not going to happen anytime soon. Thank god for sirius and internet radio!!

Hey saradio, email me I got a website you can check out with some good dance mixes in it if your interested... [email protected]

This is why I've found the Outlaw a breath of fresh air these past couple of weeks. Texas music is unique and fun and you won't find it on satellite. They are playing a tight rotation of "Hits" but the rest of the playlist is large and deep. I may get tired of it eventually but for now I've learned enough of the words to sing along with just about every cut. I just hope that sometime soon they add jocks. It would be nice to know the names of the songs and artists and maybe a little background of the music.

I think I heard Nikki once when I was in RGV - she sounds inexperienced and is trying too hard. 98 overall sounds great, but then again they always on top - and deserve to be.

you say you "think" you heard me once...and you make a judgement/criticism that i'm inexperienced and trying to hard...hmmm, with a screen name like "yourstationsucks" should i even take that into consideration?
