I don't live in Dallas, so I know nothing of these two stations, but, I have heard that CBS is interested in flipping one of the two stations to Top 40. Has anyone else heard this?

BTDT. Wild 100.3 was a loser from day one. Why on earth would they repeat history?

Like I said, I have no idea about Dallas radio. But, out here in L.A., many years ago, CBS launched a Top 40 format 93.1 KKHR. That station was supposedly a failure, last Feburary CBS displaced their FM Talk format in favor of AMP 97.1. So far AMP is doing really well, so you never know, CBS just may have a working solution now...

Hard to say. 98.7-KLUV is our oldies station, and 100.3-KJKK has the Jack format. Both seem to do well in their intended demos (others can clarify the specifics.) Then again, there's an upstart sports talk station belonging to CBS here that's made little impact so far (that was formerly our "97.1" [KLSX] equivalent.) And they have an AM talker here that's long in the tooth as well. So there's candidates for change, but I wouldn't picture it happening at KLUV or KJKK...but you just never know.

If they flip anything , it would be 105.3 because that station is tanking. I think it did better when it was "Live 105.3" and Russ was still there. The top 40 thing, I don't know with I 93 already there.

Yeah, but with 93.3's signal, can you really call it a competitor to Kiss? Top 40 is the "it" format right now. Back when hip hop was hot, you heard it on 106.7 and 93.7, as well as 97.9 and 104.5.

CBS is going to kill top 40 on WBZW 93.7 Pittsburgh and flip to sports "the Fan" according to the paper there...so top 40 may not be "it" for CBS in every market.

I would guess CBS isn't going to change any of its stations here. KVIL and KJKK are in the top 10 25-54 ratings, so the speculation of KJKK flipping seems off-base. Having shifted to less-old oldies, KLUV has seen better numbers in that demo as well. "Mega" KMVK seems to consistently beat out its format rival "La Kalle."

That leaves KRLD-FM, whose ratings are terrible. I think CBS will leave it...they obviously seem to have a national strategy going of putting sports on FM in markets and launching local portals related to them on cbssports.com (i.e. the DC portal off cbssports.com mixes in content from their sports WJFK-FM 106.7 there). Very much in line with what ESPN seems to be doing with its local stations and the newer localized espndallas.com, espnchicago.com, etc. sites.

How is the billing for both of these stations? I wonder if CBS is looking at that?

One normally expects stations doing well in the 25-54 demo to bill well...that's why those ratings are important.
