98.7 Billboard

So who all has seen the Peak's electronic billboard slide on the 202 just before the Van Buren Exit? Saw it today and it was listing the cut currently playing, which was "Hold Me" by Fleetwood Mac, (I happened to be listening as I saw the billboard). Also the billboard made no reference to the Peak, just listed 98.7 FM as the station.

Thoughts?
 
I haven't seen the billboard, but I like the idea of showing the current track. Great way to attract listeners.

I wonder if Bonneville has to pay to use the name "The Peak" and is working to drop the name to save $$$. If the ratings aren't translating into ad revenue, it might be better to try something else that generates the cash.

I'm not a huge fan of the music 98.7 plays now, but I am not the target audience.
 
With all the stations competing for attention in the Valley, it may be a curiosity factor. Just dial position, no moniker. Make them curious enough and they dial it up.

Then again, I've been wrong before. My wife reminds me of that all the time.
 
Interactive billboard- great concept. I wonder if they researched the location to be one that exposes the traffic to the message longest (slow spot in the road).

I'm with Mike Lee. Maybe research has shown less than favorable for the Peak branding, and they're looking for people to sample the station on the merit of a single song listed, without the prejudice of brand perception.

I do the same thing with tripe samples on little toothpicks at the counter.
 
Some have the Peak logo and some just have an LED calculator font look to them. Curious to know what that's all about.
