98.7 in Corpus Christi is defeated!!!

I don't think the FCC tossed the translator. I don't think it had even got to review yet. According to a comment in the correspondence folder, the applicant requested that the application be dismissed.

At the same time the applicant, "Wendolynn Tellez", filed the License to Cover application for K254CL in Corpus Christi, it also filed License to Cover applications for a number of other translators around Texas that were set to expire within a few days. I can't comment on most of the other stations, but K231CG in Waco is not on the air. It has never been on the air. Despite the License to Cover application being filed. (A License to Cover applicaiton is basically saying that the station was built out according to the Construction Permit issued and is ready to broadcast.) I visited the tower site last week and the specified Scala yagi-style antenna is nowhere to be found. It's the same story with K225CE in Hillsboro.

It's disappointing.

Ryan, I agree with you. As I posted earlier, Tellez ASKED to be dismissed. I believe this happened because someone filed an informal objection to a station that didn't exist. In reading it, the objection merely stated that the station wasn't ever built. When that happened, it looks like Wendolynn Tellez didn't want to stand up to the scrutiny of saying they had built a station which was alledged to not be there. A check by the FCC would have ratted them out in short order. These losers have tried this before (See DKHLI Holiday Beach) If you have direct knowledge that some of these other apps are BS then informally object. No cost is required and I'd suspect the Cockroaches that certify they built something that isn't there will run and hide when the light of day exposes them.

But just like a bad penny, K254CL gets an extension. Still no contact with the tower owner, but AFTER certifying he's ready to go, he's caught red handed and asks for dismissal. Now want's more time. Kind of like a cockroach. You step and them and they go "Crunch" but they're not dead. Maybe next time. Look for a new CP application on a different tower.

fingers crossed. I know they actually made an effort to lease tower space this time, so you never know. Ir does lookk like they'll die this time.
