98.7 Speculation

How ironic would it be if Beasley ended up selling 98.7 to EMF and it went to K-Love?

Unless it gets a station with a better stick, Beasley won't be parting with 98.7 anytime soon, though I could see it dropping Bubba if the problems continue.

At the very least, Bubba has been dropped from the station's nickname. It's been going by just "98.7: No Rules Rock" since Bubba's show ended today, his last new show of the year; he spent most of the show saying he was not sure if he would return to Tampa radio next year.

Yeah the station got rebranded as "No Rules Rock" sometime a couple of weeks ago. It's official with new domain, facebook, and twitter pages today. The FB and Twitter accounts are posting all kinds of patronizing stuff to listeners asking what is happening, using all kinds of Bubba lingo, "don't worry cuzzy it's just a name change", etc. It's unfortunate, because now we're going to have a 4th station playing nothing but the same 20 overplayed rock songs. I'm going back to not listening to the radio. I'm thoroughly disgusted with this business, nobody wants to listen to this crap.

I hadn't listened to the station for a very long time prior to today.

The station is apparently jockless in afternoon drive; heard nothing but music and imaging liners. Bubba's cast members used to voicetrack the other dayparts, which would also feature "best of" segments from his show. Did that part of the format get scrapped at the same time as the name change, or was that change made some time ago?

My question is...

Even if he is taken off in Tampa, how will that affect other stations that carry his show in other markets?

Will Ad Agencies shy away from those stations when it comes to radio buys due to the volatility of the show and his tarnished image for tampering the ratings?

Will he survive or could this be the silver bullet for Bubba?

This thread has been very quiet for some time now. question: did Bubba come back after his Christmas hiatus in Tampa or any other Beasley outlet that was carrying him?? Inside Radio is reporting that Beasley is picking up the Kidd Kraddick Morning Show on a couple of the Eastern North Carolina stations. Dont know if Bubba was ever there but could this indicate a change of direction for Beasley execs??
