98.7 The Peak going automated

That would be a shame, but not unexpected in a world where radio is increasingly dominated by automation and voice tracking.

When was Joel Grey shown the door?

I hope this automated thing isn't true, I really enjoy hearing Monica and Mary live on the radio.

If it does go automated, get a pen and paper, then tune in and log all the ads.
Then go and shop at the competition and send a copy of proof of payment with a letter explaining to those businesses advertising on that station that you liked the station much better with live bodies.

Problem solved.

Simple in theory, yes. How many people do you think will actually go to all that trouble? Second, it seems to me that the vast majority of listeners just want to hear their favorite songs over and over, maybe with a wx cast now and then. They don't know or care if it's local, voicetracked or bird droppings.
Yes, it drives us radio geeks nuts, but it's true.
For 25 years now I've had calls every day on our local numbers from people who wish to talk to a syndicated host. They don't know it ain't local, or give a damn.

Joel was unfortunately sent to the beach* (along with an ever-growing
number of us, in and out of broadcasting) on October 8, according to
a recent R&R item.

OTOH, Scott left the building at 5300 North sometime in mid- to late
August, based on postings here on the R-I PHX board.

So one could ask, are these two moves directly related?

*: I thought Bonneville corporate was perhaps a little better than the
Cheap Channel, C(BS) and Farid-adel types. After all, look at all
the rope they've given the Master Blogger. ;D
