98.7

Strange. It was not a hit anywhere in Latin America; back in the 60's "Christmas trees" were pretty much unknown in that region and the holiday was Reyes (Three Kings Day) and not Christmas. Christmas was a religious date like Easter Sunday, but gifts were given on January 6th.

Very strange song to have played!
Most likely Alex Sensation. Just yesterday he was playing Rihanna's "We Found Love" along with other English songs.

What's airing on 1050 currently that goes away when this date hits? Are they simulcasting? Running ESPN Desportes off satellite? Something else? (Serious question - I'm on the other coast these days.)
1050 airs the national ESPN Radio feed. ESPN Deportes as a network died 4-5 years ago.

While 1050 will air the programming, Good Karma will be pushing the audience mostly to streaming.

I wonder if this signals that a buyer has emerged, GKB has been notified, and we will begin the sale process so that a smooth transition can take place at the end of August. We are about 6 months away.

The prospect of Good Karma ending up buying 98.7, as some here have speculated, seems even less likely today.
It has been known since the upcoming sale was announced in September that Good Karma had no interest in purchasing 98.7.

All Kay's tweet does is convert the broad "last week of August" end date for the LMA to the 25th. As of this afternoon, nobody I've spoken to believes a sale agreement has been made just yet. Most sales need 60-90 days for FCC approval and with this end date now known, an LMA could also start while awaiting final closing so still some time before they get under the wire.

Comparatively, the WPLJ sale to EMF was announced on February 13, 2019 with the closing taking place at the end of May.

They could buy 98.7 and then sell 96.7 to make up for some of the loss. Then the rest can be made up from listener donations.
As far back as I can remember, EMF does not do "we need support to buy a station on the other side of the country so send some more money!" They do regular campaigns to get monthly "automatic" donors and use that money to fund expansion.

They seem to be focused on their move to the Nashville area and have put a pause on major station purchases. I wonder if they are reconsidering buying more stations in an era where more and more audio is being streamed, or if this is just an allocation of resources to construct a building an facility for the future in Tennessee.

At some point, they may make the same kind of decision that Good Karma has made: allocate money to new media and put FM on a hold for future expansion.

With Audacy emerging from Chapter 11 soon, and with Soros being the largest equity holder once the plan of reorganization takes effect, is it conceivable Audacy could try to swing a 3-way deal whereby they effectively acquire 98.7 and simultaneously divest 94.7?

Opening liquidity for Audacy doesn't look impressive, especially given the lack of a revolving credit facility, but I suppose the Soros-led investment fund could make an equity infusion or make a loan.

A would-be acquisition of 92.1 in Houston by Audacy is an easier to fathom scenario.

94.7 back to Family Radio if this happens?

A lot of it depends on the management. We still haven't heard what Field is doing. That'll likely come out next week.

My take on the Soros thing is it'll be short term. He's in to get a quick return on his money.

Quick return=station sales. We are back to speculating about who has the cash to buy, not too many potential candidates, and now that EMF is on the sidelines, even less than before.

No station sales. He's a money man. His equity will be turned into stock. Once that happens, you usually have a day or two to see how the market reacts. The longer you hold, the more money you lose. So I think he starts selling quickly.

A day or two? Not in this instance. Unless you know something I don't know - the stock in reorganized Audacy will not be publicly traded (not even on an OTC basis).

Investment funds often have a 3 to 7 year exit horizon.
