Yeah, and there have also been some other stations evolving into this same format (just not using the Click logo)
KUCD/Honoulu and KQKQ/Omaha have evolved from Hot ACs into Alternative/Hot AC hybrids, and WROX/Norfolk has basically done the same thing from the Alternative side
WKBE/Albany originated the format in 2007, you could say... prior to the relaunch they were just an ordinary Hot AC but flipped to a Modern AC/AAA hybrid after playing Christmas music in 2006. Nice to see it catching on
Checked out a Winnipeg station this morning to listen to an old buddy who is their PD. www.groovefm.ca
Wondering why they didn't morph Smooth Jazz into THIS format instead? It's all light vocals -- many recognizable pop, R&B gold, and jazz vocalists' covers of pop (as far as I can tell this is the ONLY time I have heard Reuben Studdard get airplay!!). Haven't heard a single sax solo yet (which usually made me grab pliers and start pulling teeth as I was SURE I was in a dental office somewhere). Been listening for two hours and can't shut it down ... vs. my 48 second TSL on "Cluck"-FM.
Was the Click decision well researched, or was it Marc Kaye wanting to get in KPLZ's pants yet again?
