98.9 KLMO back on air

It's back on the air after a 3 month or more absence. Nothing playing on it as of right now however, it's just silence.

Looks like KLMO also installed the processor I sent the guy who owns it, I was being nice and KLMO followed.

That processor is not what is needed / required to comply with FCC regulations. It does not have a peak limiter to keep overmodulation controlled to 100%. While it looks like an effective low budget pre-processer, it is more like an Aphex Compellor which is a $1,600 piece of gear.

Some processors with peak limiting are shown here:

A good one will be around $3,000 to over $10,000. Yes, there are software based products that do well, but commercial and full power radio stations still predominantly use hardware based devices.

Doesn't make much of a difference to me but then again I do not have an FM meter.

I wouldn't have sent Carlos Lopez the processor if I'd known he was going to let the people from McAllen run 98.9 anyway. I don't think they're really professional when compared to IHeartMedia which runs 93.3/105.7. The Lopez people actually own 98.9, 93.3, and 105.7 apparently, and lease them out.
