With apologies to those of you looking for true oldies, this is a marginally programmed oldies station at best. They're damn lucky to have had Bo Chase on air--I think they would have been smarter making this move musicall when they put "The Talker" on the air. There's an appetite for music here, not second tier pre-recorded political talk shows. Bo's a solid talent, though a bit of a "musicologist" at times...
While Bo is great, the rest of this bunch is a steaming pile of crap. Hopefully, they're not being absorbed by KUT. A no talent PD with zero format experience isn't a good choice for an eclectic market like Austin. Maybe in Swampbucket, FLA, but not here.
While BOB FM isn't a "true" oldies station, Crash Kelley does an solid job presenting a great variety hits format, playing deeper cuts and serving plenty of AC, Classic Hits, Classic Rock, and oldies fans. The playlist on BOB is deep, unpredictable, and the imaging IS creative and topical. I would have enjoyed a JACK FM vs BOB FM showdown.
And Bob doesn't play songs from deep inside the lake (WTF is that anyway?)...
