98.9 translator in Sarasota

W255CC/98.9 has been relaying WSRQ 1220 for well over a year, but there is zero mention of it on 'SRQ. The FCC query and radio-locator.com list WSLR-LP as its owner. Does anyone know if anything is in the works for 98.9? I didn't think a LPFM could own a translator, although I could be wrong.

No it can't....I work in Sarasota. I should've clarified :)
98.9 does cover northern Sarasota county and southern Manatee quite well. Their antenna is co-located with WSLR and WSRQ (Beneva and Bahia Vista) according to the map on radio-locator. They really cause some splatter over 98.7 The Fan in that area of town.

In the business world, LP stands for Limited Partnership. That would be the business entity that holds the license.

Yes, but in the radio world this stands for Low Power, as in WSLR-LPFM.
http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/finder?call=wslr&sr=Y&s=C
owner shows as the New College Student Alliance

As for the W255CC translator, the FCC shows that belonging to a well known poster on these boards. http://transition.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/fmq?list=0&facid=158420
The FCC database shows this translator repeating WSRQ but it looks like Radio-Locator shows it affiliated with WSLR-LPFM.

As for DannyG's comment regarding no mention of 98.9, this confuses me. WSRQ website has them on AM 1220 and FM 106.9 which is the W295BH translator showing owned by WSRQ. Wish I could hear any of these up in Pinellas.

But LP wouldn't show as part of the owner's name unless it were a limited partnership. You posit a situation that doesn't exit. Even if the translator was owned by "WSLR-LP," it would seem that WSLR would have an owner and that entity's name would appear instead.

Jim: When did you work at WHLO? And, the WONE you mentioned...is that Akron or Dayton? I'm in Ohio.

I was doing PM drive at WSBA in York when Susquehanna sent me to WHLO in 1966 to handle the same shift. I was there about a year and got fired (welcome to radio) and headed for the orignal WONE in Dayton.
